The periodontal disease or the “periodontitis”, as it is known by most of the patients is still considered a non-treatable disease. At Dental Progress the periodontal disease is treatable! According to the seriousness of the periodontal disease, the treatment can be medicamentous or surgical.

If the periodontal bags have a depth lower than 4 mm, generally, the periodontal disease can be treated with medicines by applying medicamentous solutions on the periodontal bags, after a periodontal curettage in closed field was previously done.

If the periodontal bags are very deep the medicamentous treatment is no longer sufficient. This must be doubled by a periodontal surgery intervention (see clinical case 3, clinical case 25 or clinical case 22) consisting in the removal of the gum from the bone, at the affected teeth and the elimination of the granulation teeth, and then the application of regeneration substances, doubled by bone addition in case of big bone defects.

The orthodontic braces represent specially conceived systems for the teeth straightening or more correctly for the teeth alignment on a circle arc with ideal form.

By means of the orthodontic treatment there may be solved both the dental alveolar incongruities with crowding [incongruentele dento-alveolare cu inghesuire] (crowded teeth) and the dental alveolar incongruities with spacing [incongruentele dento-alveolare cu spatieri] ( spaces between teeth).

The orthodontic braces are mobile (they can be removed from the teeth anytime the patient wants it) or fixed (they are cemented on the teeth and can only be removed by the doctor at the end of the treatment). The mobile orthodontic braces can resolve more simple cases which present a slight crowding of the teeth or small spacing between the teeth. They can also be used as preparing treatment before the application of the fixed orthodontic braces. The fixed orthodontic braces may solve the most complicated cases both with crowded teeth and with spaces between the teeth. The Orthodontics knew a great development in the last years, now there are also invisible dental braces, which are cemented on the interior of the teeth (incognito) or which look as a very fine and transparent moulding which is applied between the teeth (invisalign) and nobody knows that the respective patient wears dental braces. The Invisalign dental braces are cemented on teeth and they can be removed during eating or in other special occasions.

The metallic brackets have the alternative of ceramic brackets of the teeth color, the result of the orthodontic treatment being very good, and the esthetics improved a lot.

A modern solution and very efficient for the teeth alignment is also the self-ligating orthodontic braces which offer more rapid results and less visits to the orthodontist.

We have to know that an orthodontic treatment lasts from a few months to a few years and you should better choose carefully your orthodontist because a wrong treatment requires sometimes a few years to be repaired.
